In what was a tactical masterclass under newly appointed coach Andrea Maldera, the visitors weathered a fierce storm in Budapest to snatch all three points in their League B Group B2 opener. Sikan Strikes Decisive Blow Футбол 24 The defining moment of the match arrived in the 41st minute. Capitalizing on a sharp transitional play engineered by Georgiy Sudakov, forward Danylo Sikan found space inside the box and coolly slotted past goalkeeper Balázs Tóth. The goal silenced the partisan home crowd and handed Ukraine a crucial psychological advantage heading into the halftime break. Defensive Resilience Under Pressure Trailing on home soil, Marco Rossi’s Hungarian side—anchored by star midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai—pushed relentlessly for an equalizer in the second half. Hungary dominated possession (57%) and peppered Dmytro Riznyk's goal with attempts, but a resolute Ukrainian backline featuring Illia Zabarnyi and Mykola Matviyenko held firm. Despite late drama that saw a flurry of yellow cards and a stoppage-time red card issued to Oleksandr Nazarenko, Ukraine successfully slammed the door shut to snap Hungary's four-match unbeaten home run.
